About
Menieres Disease
First, I am NOT a doctor, I have Meniere's
Disease. It started with a vertigo/drop attack in 1989, no warning at
all. The doctor could not figure out the problem and dismissed
it as an ear infection. The next several years I had a few minor
dizzy spells, but nothing that I went to see the doctor about.
The next major attack occurred in 1995. Very bad vertigo lasting
hours. Went to another doctor and was told that I had Labrynthitis, was prescribed meclizine and valium. The on and
off dizzy spells continued. In 2002 a constant ringing started
in my right ear. I finally went to an ENT and, after ten years, was officially
diagnosed with Meniere's Disease. I was immediately prescribed a
diuretic. Within 4 days I had one of my most violent attacks
ever. I discontinued the diuretic. After a lot of research on
the internet, I am discovering that there are many treatments to
reduce the symptoms. I have also discovered that everyone is
different and one treatment may work for you, but not me.
Someone may state B-Complex vitamins helped them, 50 people may go
out and buy the B-Complex and 10 will come back and say it helped and
40 may say it didn't do a thing. They only thing one can do is
try different things and see what works for them.
